Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)

‍ HTMA is a comprehensive yet non-invasive laboratory test that measures the mineral content in your hair. Your hair is soft tissue that acts as a record of your body’s mineral levels and ratios over the past few months, providing valuable insights into your nutritional status, metabolic rate, potential toxic metal exposure, and so many other important health factors. Here’s how the process works:‍

The Sample Collection‍

I will give you a physical collection kit, and you will collect a small sample of hair (about a tablespoon) from the back of your head, close to the scalp. This area gives us the most recent growth and accurate reading. The collection kit provides detailed instructions and a pre-addressed envelope as to where to send the sample. The collection is quick and painless—you won’t even notice it’s gone! Your hair does need to be freshly washed and completely dry. In addition, if you color your hair or do any other type of treatment, you need a minimum of three weeks, and 4-6 weeks post-treatment is preferred.

Laboratory Analysis

You send your sample to a certified laboratory where it’s analyzed for a comprehensive panel of minerals, including calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron, copper, zinc, and others. The lab also screens for toxic metals like lead, mercury, cadmium, and aluminum.

Your Results

Within 2-3 weeks, I will receive a detailed report showing your mineral levels and ratios. I will go through your test thoroughly, and then we’ll schedule a consultation to review your results together. I believe in a collaborative approach, so at our appointment, we will go through the test to determine what resonates, and I’ll help you understand what the findings mean for your health. This usually takes about 60-75 minutes.

Some of What HTMA Can Reveal

∙ Nutritional deficiencies or excesses

∙ Heavy metal toxicity

∙ Metabolic type and energy patterns

∙ Stress patterns and adrenal function

∙ Thyroid health indicators

∙ Blood sugar imbalances

This test is particularly insightful because unlike bloodwork, which is just a snapshot of that one moment, HTMA shows trends over time, about 3 months. This gives us a fuller picture of your overall mineral balance and general health patterns. It can also reveal early signs of potential future imbalances.

Pricing for the test, interpretation, and a results consultation is $399.

This also includes a 10-15 minute discovery phone session to ensure everything aligns with what you are looking for and is a good fit, and a 20-30 minute virtual intake session sometime prior to the results consultation.
