What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a complete medical system of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of illness. Fine needles are placed at specific locations on the body to reduce inflammation, promote blood flow, reduce pain and restore nerve and muscle function. Acupuncture regulates the parasympathetic nervous system which helps the body relax. During a treatment, endorphins are released, which helps with pain reduction and mood improvement. Acupuncture techniques and point locations may vary with each treatment. Our goal is always to help our patients feel better when they leave than when they came in. A series of acupuncture treatments normally begins with six sessions, as each session builds upon the previous to create lasting change in the body.
